FAQ
Are your license plates compliant with legal regulations for use on the road?
Indeed, all our license plates adhere to the DVLA's regulations, making them road legal and suitable for public road use.
In 2023, are 3D and 4D license plates considered legally acceptable?
One of the most frequently asked questions we receive is whether 3D and 4D license plates are legal in 2023. In the simplest terms, the answer is YES.
The legality of 3D and 4D plates was established when the DVLA, in conjunction with manufacturers of number plate components, re-evaluated number plate standards in March 2021. These standards were revised under the new code of BSAU145e.
These are reflected on the DVLA website:

What details should I provide when placing an order for license plates?
After submitting your order, you will need to provide original documents that fulfill the following criteria:
- Verification of Personal Information: This includes documents such as a driving license, utility bill, bank statement, or national identity card, which serve as proof of your name and address.
- Confirmation of Registration Entitlement: You should provide documentation such as a vehicle registration certificate (V5C or V5CNI), new keeper supplement (V5C/2 or V5C/2NI), certificate of entitlement, or retention document (V778) to demonstrate your eligibility to use the registration number.
(You can expect to receive an email confirmation once we have received your order.)
What do showplates refer to?
Show Plates are customised license plates that lack road legality. They are primarily utilised for showcasing vehicles at events, exhibitions, or showrooms, rather than for regular road use. Show Plates often feature distinctive designs, fonts, and logos that do not adhere to the legal requirements for standard license plates.
In contrast to standard license plates, show plates do not adhere to the regulations established by the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) in the UK. These regulations specify the size, format, font, and spacing requirements for license plates permitted for road use. Show plates may diverge from these standards by incorporating decorative elements, unconventional characters, or modified spacing, which would not be allowed on a road-legal license plate.
It's important to emphasize that using show plates on public roads in the UK is against the law. Displaying non-compliant license plates can result in penalties, fines, or even the confiscation of the plates and the vehicle's registration documents. Therefore, show plates should exclusively be used for display purposes and not while operating a vehicle on public roads.
